Bible school for Damusi Sayah

  • Peter Jan de Vries

I talk to Damusi by a video connection. “Look, here's the living room, here's the kitchen, and here's the bathroom,” he tells me enthusiastically as he shows me the house he is planning to rent.
And so, at the end of August, Damusi and Alince Sayah, a married couple from the Korowai region, moved to Doyo Baru, near the provincial capital of Jayapura. Damusi has started training to become an evangelist at STT Levinus Rumaseb, a Bible school run by the CAMA churches.

In 2022, he worked with me on the booklet “The Living Christ,” from Gospel Recordings and he was convicted by Jesus' parables about wealth. He had his financial affairs in order but realized that without Christ, it didn't mean very much. He told me that he wanted to become an evangelist for his own people. He hoped to start attending Bible school last year, but his wife wasn't ready for it at the time.

But now they live in Doyo Baru, and Damusi has started his studies. We praise the Lord for this development and we hope and pray that Damusi will be able to return to the Korowai after finishing his training, so that many more Korowai people may come to know the Lord Jesus.
